Looking Good! SOMA Pet Day Benefit for San Francisco SPCA hosted by the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetology

San Francisco, Aug 19 2009: The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell Partner School, is presenting SOMA Pet Day on Saturday, August 22, 2009, 11AM – 3PM. The free event is a benefit for The San Francisco SPCA.

“The SF/SPCA is delighted and grateful to be a part of SOMA Pet Day,” Jan McHugh-Smith, President of The SF/SPCA said today. “Community projects like this are a very effective way to highlight The SF/SPCA’s resources and to help homeless animals at the same time.” The venue for SOMA Pet Day is Sherman Street (between Harrison and Cleveland), which will be closed to traffic for the occasion.

The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetlogy is based in the South of Market district, and the President of the Institute, DeeDee Crossett, is enthusiastic about the Pet Day venture: “We are excited about participating, and being able to do our part to help The San Francisco SPCA, while bringing awareness of their programs to the pet-friendly South of Market neighborhood.”

SOMA Pet Day will include fun activities for everyone, including our furry friends. A “Do it Yourself” fashion show is featured at 1:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to unleash their creativity and bring their pooches in their finest attire to win great prizes (there is a $10 entry fee for the fashion show). Other activities include: “Ask the Trainer” pet education with The SF/SPCA Behavior & Training Department, tricks and demonstrations, face painting, and pet adoption information. Featured vendors include: Greenhome.com, Dress My Pooch (green clothing for your pet!), Fido Factor, and Paw Pets.
