New Adopter Assistance

The SF SPCA provides a free first medical exam and a post-adoption care discount for new adopters who adopt from the SF SPCA or one of our Bay Area Rescue Partners. Qualifying adopters will receive 50% off all services at our hospital, excluding those that are covered by insurance, in the 14 days following adoption.

• First free medical exam offer includes a health examination only. Guardians are responsible for post-adoption expenses related to medications, vaccines, diagnostics or treatments.
• Appointment for first free medical exam must be made within three days of adoptions, and proof of adoption is required.

All SF SPCA adopters also receive a ShelterCare Insurance Policy, which covers a variety of illnesses and accidents that may arise in the 30 days following adoption. It can also be extended to 45 days or expanded to include rental property insurance at no extra cost. Visit ShelterCare's website for more information.
