Do you have a shy dog who needs to learn basic obedience? Just the Basics for Shy Dogs includes everything covered in our popular Just the Basics class and more, with extra attention paid to the special needs of shy/fearful dogs. The classroom setting will feature a calm ambiance to help ease anxiety and fearfulness, and instructor-led exercises will focus on specific goals with the safety of shy dogs in mind.
This class covers training essentials, including sit, down, stay, recall, leave it, hand targeting, focus/watch and loose-leash walking.
Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks.
Class includes: Handbook and Certificate of Completion
Fees: $175 (if your dog has attended a previous SF SPCA class within the last six months, fee is $150)
Class capacity: 8 students
Location: 243 Alabama Street
Course prerequisites: Dogs must have first taken Bravery Class for Shy Dogs to participate in this class. Dogs must be 5 months of age or older, up to date on all vaccinations (including rabies), able to be handled gently by a friendly stranger, and able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash.
