Youth Programs

Is your child an animal lover? Our Humane Education department has just the programs for them! Along with encouraging and enhancing a love of animals, we aim to:

  • Increase understanding of animal behavior by providing a safe place for children to bond with a variety of animals
  • Enhance compassion, respect, and responsibility for animals through hands-on activities and exciting, inquiry-based classes
  • Encourage youth to protect and help animals in our community
  • Promote advocacy on behalf of animals

More Information

Please note: The San Francisco SPCA is remodeling its adoption center to meet the current and future needs of our shelter animals and visitors. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-January and complete in Spring of 2014.

During the renovation, the Humane Education department will be affected in terms of scheduling. With the remodel taking place until May of next year, the following programs will be on hiatus. These programs will resume during the 2014-15 school year:
  • High School Volunteer program
  • MLK Jr. and Presidents’ Week Camps
  • Puppy Movie Nights
  • Preschool Story Times
For those interested in Summer Animal Camp, the program will not be altered by this remodel. Please check sfspca.org/camp in February for 2014’s schedule.
