The San Francisco SPCA's Cinderella Fund assists the neediest shelter animals requiring immediate medical care, surgery and treatment beyond the scope of our Shelter Medicine Program or need labwork or radiographs (services of the hospital) to support their treatment while in the shelter.
Our goal in 2009 is to raise half a million dollars for The Cinderella Fund. We cannot reach our goal of assisting those animals in the direst of need without your generous support. Every dollar raised by The Bark & Whine Ball will benefit The Cinderella Fund directly, and represent thousands of animals’ lives saved.
Animals like Belle, one of five in a litter of pups transferred from a rural county shelter, in hopes of finding homes in our well trafficked adoption center. Soon after her arrival, however, Belle wasn’t acting as a normal healthy puppy, and our Shelter Medicine team diagnosed her with Distemper, a rare but serious illness, which, without immediate treatment, can prove to be fatal.
Our team quickly set to work treating Belle. Distemper treatment is costly, time consuming, and not always guaranteed. Our staff believed in Belle’s ability to recover, and she proved us right. After weeks in instensive care, and daily TLC from staff, technicians and our Shelter Medicine Team, Belle made a full recovery. Soon after, Belle won a family's heart, and now enjoys being the 'Belle of their ball' everyday.
With funds raised, The San Francisco SPCA can ensure that thousands more pets will become heroes to their guardians, and touch so many lives in the process.
